About the ROSE Advanced Master’s Programme

The ROSE Advanced Master’s degree (second-level Specialising Master’s, formally known as Post-Master’s Vocational Programme) in Earthquake Engineering of the ROSE School is jointly awarded by the University of Pavia and the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia. During the 12-month programme, students will acquire the ability to undertake seismic design of new structures and the assessment and strengthening of existing structures as well as to design, execute and evaluate assessments of sites’ seismic hazard.

Admission Requirements

The ROSE Advanced Master’s degree in Earthquake Engineering of the ROSE School is intended for those who have obtained a degree requiring at least 5 years of academic education. For Italian degrees, this means having the “Laurea Magistrale”. For degrees obtained abroad, a Bachelor plus Master of Science (MSc) Degree is required. Programme Structure

The ROSE Advanced Master’s degree requires 60 ECTS to be obtained. The structure of the programme consists of two semesters of coursework, during which the student earns 27 ECTS in the first semester and 24 ECTS in the second semester. At the end of the second semester, a one-month internship (6 ECTS) is carried out, during which the student also prepares the Master’s report. Finally, a final exam (3 ECTS) is held, focusing on the discussion of the Master’s report.

The ROSE Teaching Model

The ROSE Advanced Master’s features a focused modular teaching model, allowing students to dedicate their full attention to one subject at a time. Courses are delivered over a few weeks by internationally recognized professors, fostering deeper learning, close interaction with faculty, and a highly engaging academic experience.

Students will attend 12 advanced and professionally oriented courses, taught by internationally renowned academics and industry experts. Application

The ROSE Advanced Master’s programme has a maximum of 30 available places. A dedicated selection committee will evaluate the applications and compile a ranking list, identifying the candidates eligible for admission to the programme. Learn more.

Internship

Students will have the opportunity to work alongside leading professionals in the field of earthquake engineering. Training will be carried out at Eucentre Foundation, GEM Foundation or at other research or professional institutions affiliated with the Advanced Master’s programme.
