1. MSc in Civil Engineering for Mitigation of Risk from Natural Hazards
A two-year international Master of Science degree programme (Italian Laurea Magistrale) providing advanced education in earthquake engineering and seismic risk reduction (ROSE Curriculum). The syllabus combines structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, seismology, advanced design and risk mitigation strategies, equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to address the challenges of resilient infrastructures and communities.
Jointly awarded by the University of Pavia (administrative institution) and the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, with the support of Eucentre Foundation and GEM Foundation.
Duration: 2 years (120 ECTS).
Who can apply?
Applicants holding a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree requiring at least 3 years of academic education and demonstrating English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

2. Advanced Master’s Degree in Earthquake Engineering
A one-year Advanced Master’s Programme providing specialised education in earthquake engineering and seismic risk reduction. The curriculum includes 12 advanced courses, taught by internationally renowned academics and industry experts (learn more), complemented by an internship at affiliated institutions. The programme provides participants with both scientific knowledge and practical skills to address real-world challenges in the field.
Jointly awarded by the University of Pavia (administrative institution) and the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, with the support of Eucentre Foundation and GEM Foundation.
Duration: 1 year (60 ECTS).
Who can apply?
Applicants holding a degree (Bachelor plus Master) requiring at least 5 years of academic education (Italian Laurea Magistrale or equivalent international degree).

3. PhD in Earthquake Engineering
A three-year doctoral programme providing advanced research training in earthquake engineering and seismic risk reduction. Through interdisciplinary research activities, students develop the expertise required to advance knowledge, innovation and practice in seismic risk assessment, risk mitigation and resilient infrastructure systems, preparing them for careers in academia, research organisations and industry.
Jointly awarded by the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia (administrative institution) and the University of Pavia, with the support of Eucentre Foundation and GEM Foundation.
Duration: 3 years.
Who can apply?
Applicants holding qualifications corresponding to indicatively at least five years of university education (Bachelor’s + Master’s degree or equivalent).
