The ROSE School marks a new era with the relaunch of its Advanced Master’s in Earthquake Engineering for the 2025/2026 edition. The opening of the programme, held on February 16 at the Fondazione Eucentre, represents a strategic milestone for Pavia, reaffirming its international role in seismic engineering research and education.
During his welcome address at the start of the programme, Professor Rui Pinho – Coordinator of the ROSE Advanced Master’s and President of the Fondazione Eucentre – highlighted the strengthened teaching capacity of the Master: a significantly expanded resident faculty, the annual presence of internationally renowned visiting professors, and a redesigned curriculum structured to address the evolving challenges of seismic risk.
A Legacy of Global Excellence
Founded in 2001, the ROSE School has played a central role in transforming Pavia into a globally recognised hub for earthquake research. Its work contributed to the establishment of the Fondazione Eucentre in 2005. After a brief pause, the Master returns not merely as a continuation but as a strengthened programme designed for the evolving needs of the field.
Hands-On Learning and Internship Opportunities
The programme, entirely taught in English, is offered in collaboration with the Università degli Studi di Pavia, the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS, the Fondazione Eucentre, and the Fondazione GEM. It combines advanced teaching, close integration with applied research, and internship period at partner institutions and companies, offering students a fully immersive and practical experience in earthquake engineering.
An Integrated Research Ecosystem
Students are not merely recipients of lectures; they actively participate in a research-driven ecosystem. They gain access to state-of-the-art laboratories at Fondazione Eucentre and connect with a global network of ROSE School alumni, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and hands-on experience.
Why Choose the ROSE Advanced Master’s?
The ROSE Advanced Master’s provides a unique opportunity for those seeking to specialise in earthquake engineering. By combining a world-class faculty, cutting-edge laboratories, internship opportunities, and a curriculum designed to address modern challenges, the programme prepares experts capable of managing seismic risk effectively and with an international perspective.
