About the Master of Science Programme

The ROSE Curriculum in Reduction of Seismic Risk is a two-year Civil Engineering MSc Degree Programme (Laurea Magistrale) that provides advanced training in the assessment, reduction and management of the seismic risk. The curriculum integrates structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, seismology, advanced design and risk mitigation strategies. The programme includes the possibility to carry out an internship during the fourth semester as part of the final dissertation.

The ROSE curriculum of the MSc in Civil Engineering for Reduction of Seismic Risk is jointly awarded by the University of Pavia and the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia.

Requirements

A three-year Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering acknowledged by the Italian Government is the minimum requirement to apply for the ROSE MSc Programme. In some cases, a legalised Italian translation of Degree Certificates by the Italian Consulate is also required.

Additionally, an adequate knowledge of the English language is mandatory (B2 level or equivalent).

Format

The ROSE MSc Programme is a comprehensive and internationally oriented course of study requiring the completion of 120 ECTS.

The programme unfolds over four semesters, combining rigorous academic training with hands-on learning opportunities. During the first three semesters, students engage in a rich portfolio of core and elective courses, whereas the fourth semester is fully dedicated to the development of the Master’s thesis (27 ECTS). The programme culminates in the thesis defence, where students present their work before an academic committee.

Selection is based on assessment of academic qualifications and English proficiency. Appropriate certificates should be submitted in the online application procedure.
