Fabio Sabetta is Deputy Director of the National Seismic Survey of the Italian Civil Protection Department. Graduated in Physics in 1975 at the University of Rome, he has been, for 15 years, researcher at the Environment Department of ENEA. He is member of several scientific and technical committees, among others the Project Team 1 responsible for the definition of seismic actions in Eurocode 8. He participated, as European Expert for the ground motion characterization, in the Pegasos Project for a new Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis of the Swiss nuclear power plants. His fields of research include: engineering characterization of seismic input, ground motion attenuation, simulation of strong ground motions, probabilistic and deterministic evaluation of seismic hazard, seismic risk assessment, earthquake damage scenarios and emergency management systems. He is author of more than 50 publications on mentioned subjects.
