Seismic design philosophy and conceptual design of bridges: damage and collapse modes, functional and geographical constraints, alternative choices, capacity design concepts. Modelling and analysis: single and multi dof systems, alternative choices. Design of reinforced concrete bridges: foundation, piers, joints and bearings, superstructure, force and displacement based design options.
