The course will cover topics such as: Identifying the number of degrees of freedom, Single degree of freedom systems, free‐vibration, force‐vibration and earthquake response. Multi‐degree of freedom systems, mass representation, free vibrations, orthogonality of mode shapes, modal response for forced vibration and earthquake response. Non‐linear structures, stiffness and hysteresis models, damping models, time‐history integration, P‐Delta effects, soils‐structure interaction, incremental time‐history analyzes and push‐over analyzes. There will be some material on random‐vibration theory and obtaining random excitation responses using Monte‐Carlo simulations.
